I. The Bond We Share
Whether you recall the cold early mornings rowing on the Cam, or late nights lumbering over cobblestones after a formal swap on the other side, we are all bound by something we share. It is forged in tradition, rooted in academic rigour, and written in the colours of Kenya.
This is the new digital home of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya.
Since its founding in 1926, our Society has convened us and fostered connections across Nairobi and beyond. This website marks a more recent transformation: it is a symbol of reinvigoration after the lull of the Covid times, a reminder that our gatherings have long bloomed into genuine community, and a desire to keep the Society alive.
II. Why We Are Here
This website exists to serve three purposes:
Connection: To reunite old friends and challenge both Cantabs and Oxonians to kindle new social and professional relationships with each other. We host events both in the UK and in Kenya, and encourage members to organise gatherings wherever they are in the diaspora.
Mentorship: To encourage the next generation of bright Kenyan students who aspire to walk through those same doors that we did. We act as a Trustee of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya Scholarship Fund, and run pre-departure mentorship programmes for prospective Oxbridge students. We intend to set up more mentorship programmes in future, and we encourage you to help us do so.
Impact: To leverage our collective expertise in service of others, through charitable initiatives and educational outreach that extend beyond our own private circles.
